Blue Winter Sky

I don’t know why, but it seems that the blue sky in winter is so much more blue than in the summer time. The contrast is wonderful.

Here the blue is a little less blue, but still beautiful. Oh, look at the blue shadows  across the snow–that darker blue that I was looking for.

A closer focus.

I love the winter colors here. A perfect scene to frame.  So pleasant to the eyes. God is good to us.

Afternoon Autumn Light

Heading home from my walk I noticed the sparkling afternoon light on the tall grass. what a delight!

Next, my attention was draw to the light in the sky. Beautiful!

I dared to move even closer to the sun in the western sky.

This picture was taken eight days later (December 3rd) at a different place. But notice that the time of day was the same–showing the afternoon autumn light.

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good. (Genesis 1:3-4)

Afternoon Surprise On the Water

About a month age, mid November, I went for a walk. It was cold but calm. When I decided to walk along the lake shore I was surprised by the clear reflection on the water.

It’s almost as clear as a mirror image.

Reflections of the glory of God.

Muskrats On the Ice

The best time to see muskrats is in the late fall when the ice on the lake isn’t fully formed yet.

It looks like this one has dragged something up out of the water and is now chewing on it.

Here you can see that there are several holes in the ice where he will plunge down and bring something up.  Sometimes he is under the water and ice for a long time.

Down by the river: feel the energy

Walking down by the Mississippi river is one of my favorite things to do. I love the feel of the energy in the flowing water.

And I’m always reminded of what Jesus said about Himself: that if we believe in Him, from our innermost being will flow rivers of living water.

He is that living water. And if we believe in Him and drink deeply of His Spirit, He will be in us like a well of water springing up forever. John 4:14.

A view through  the trees. The water is high and powerful.

Beautiful White Autumn Grass

This white fluffy stuff on this tall Autumn grass is so beautiful. especially when the wind gently blows it around. At a distance all you can see is a field of white, like angels fluttering their wings.

They look like white bird feathers.

Reeds: she hid the basket among the reeds.

But when she could hide him no longer, she got him a wicker basket…and set it among the reeds by the bank of the Nile (Exodus 2:3).

I’m not sure what kind of reed this is, whether it is a horsetail reed, a green reed or a common reed. I see them all over in the marsh lands where I walk.  At first they appear just as tall grasses, then in the fall you get these lovely reeds. I love seeing them sway in the wind.

Here’s one with different colors.
